Luxurious African Recommends – The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort

St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort

We thought we would complete our review of our time spent in Abu Dhabi, we had previously recommended the illustrious Emirates Palace which we had stayed at on our travels, however we also discovered the fabulous The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resortlocated on Saadiyat Island this hotel is a luxury hide away amongst the hustle and bustle of the Abu Dhabi city and is located 500 meters from the coast.

Although the area is still being developed, the island currently hosts the Park Hyatt,  Shangri-La, alongside the St. Regis, as well as the Saaidyat beach golf club and the Monte Carlo Beach club, and for those looking for a bit of culture  the island boasts one of the biggest cultural hubs in Abu Dhabi, consisting of the Zayed museum, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and the Louvre Abu Dhabi.

St. Regis renowned for five-star luxury and it’s signature butler service, coupled with stunning views of white sand and azure sea, this has to be one of Abu Dhabi’s best kept secrets for those looking for some R&R. The hotel currently has 2 main restaurants, the 55&5th The Grill and The Sontaya, providing fine South East Asian cuisine, and offers guests the option of afternoon tea in the Drawing Room, or a relaxing evening in The Manhattan Lounge.

The selling point for us has to be the pool areas and the beach, pure white sand and warm azure waters, a perfect way to spend the morning, once the sun has reached its peak the option of retreating to one of the pools allows you to fully appreciate your surroundings. And for those looking for something extra, the hotel has provides some solace in the form of the Iridium Spa, the Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, or the 24 hour athletic club.

It might have been missing some of the little extras you receive at hotels in Dubai, such as golf buggies to transport you around the grounds of the hotel, or cold wet towels to deal with the heat, but the in such beautiful surroundings one could forgive these minor transgressions.
