A household name on the Nigerian fashion scene Lisa Folawiyo is the founder and creative director behind Jewel by Lisa, a Nigerian based global luxury womenswear and accessories brand. Renowned for her use of Ankara (local West African fabric) and the use of ornate embellishment, Jewel by Lisa has shown its collections internationally in Lagos, Johannesburg, London, Paris and New York.
Although Ankara is now widely used within the fashion industry and can now even be seen to be the inspiration behind the collections created by some western designers, Jewel by Lisa were amongst one of the first luxury brands to showcase the fusion of custom luxury prints with luxurious fabrics such as silk, leather and Chantilly lace. Each Jewel by Lisa garment boasts a handcrafted and unique history from inception to construction, Jewel by Lisa have created some beautiful collections, and we would have to say the beautifully elegant 2013 Spring/Summer collection is one our favourites yet.

The brand has been seen on the likes of Solange Knowles, Thandie Newton, Angela Simmons and Kelis, and has also been featured by international media and several publications such as The New York Times, Drapers, Vogue.co.uk, Style.com, BBC.co.uk, MTV.co.uk, Vogue.it, ModaOperandi.com, Harpersbazaar.co.uk, Essence, Arise, Ebony, and was part of the collection of Nigerian designers from the 2012 Lagos Fashion and Design Week featured in the Ndani pop-up shop, which was based in Selfridges last year.
